Ms. Riley’s appointment is the culmination of an extensive national search led by Value Schools Executive Committee members Vincent Gonzales and Naya Bloom, alongside the national search firm Edgility. Throughout the interview process, the Committee was struck by Ms. Riley’s commitment to communities like ours in Los Angeles and beyond. Like many Value Schools’ students, she was a first-generation college graduate herself, and understands the immediate challenges students and families within the Value Schools community face when looking to further their educational and life goals.
“I often say, if we row in the same direction, we can do anything,” says Ms. Riley. “I will use this same mindset with the Value Schools team, and I feel confident that together we will continue to do the most amazing things for students and families.”
Ms. Riley holds a bachelor's degree in History from California State University, Fullerton, and a master's in Educational Leadership from Loyola Marymount University with a specific focus on Charter School Leadership. She has over 15 years of experience as a teacher, principal, and administrator, and has been a major contributor to student success in primary and secondary educational environments. With a long history of understanding and implementing best practices on an instructional level, Ms. Riley fundamentally grasps the importance of our values. She understands that student potential, respect for oneself and others, developing caring communities and giving back all require a strong focus on academic excellence.
I am thrilled about Ms. Riley’s commitment to the students and communities of Downtown Los Angeles. She has dedicated her career to advancing our community to help every student go to-and-through college and beyond. We are excited to have Loreen Riley as the new face of the Value Schools community.
With excitement,
