For example, on June 8th, 2022, Linda Gunn and her team at Gunn Jerkens Marketing and Communications invited twenty-five students to her firm to learn the details of branding a product - in this case, developing a shoe brand.
Linda Gunn at Gunn Jerkens Marketing and Communications designed a full day of hands-on experiences for our students. |
Students worked in groups to design their campaigns, and presented their campaigns to the group. |
Small groups of students met with members of the Gunn Jerkens team and studied target demographics, chose images, added music, and created a tagline to promote their shoe line.
At the end of the day the students presented their brand in a short video to the entire team and explained their decision-making process.
“…it was an amazing experience. All the team members were helpful. And everything in the office seemed to be designed for collaborative people.”

Ultimately, the students learned each step of the branding process and came away from the experience understanding the importance of communication and collaboration.
Over the past five years, Linda Gunn and her company have made an enormously positive impact on our students. She and her creative team of strategists, marketers, creatives, interactive developers, copywriters, media masters, reporting geniuses and brand ambassadors have decided this year to "go bigger, bolder and better."
"Instead of visiting the Value Schools campus to speak and share a PowerPoint presentation on marketing and leadership," according to Ms. Gunn and her team, "we decided to bring the students into the Gunn Jerkens HQ for an immersive day of creative career exploration."

Opportunities like this provide our students a chance to connect their education with real world experience.
